Trompe l’oeil
February 14, 2022 – An 18″ x 24″ charcoal drawing of a Greek sculpture. The objective was to create a trompe l’oeil drawing that looked like the sculpture was partially hanging off of the surface it was resting on.
The harsh shadows can make the drawing look three-dimensional to the eyes. I didn’t add too much detail yet from afar it was as if I did. The complexity of the hair contrasts with the softness of the lips. The little marks on the face show the journey that the sculpture has gone through.
