California Field

2023 – A 14″ x 11″ oil painting of a field in California. The objective was to learn how to plein air paint before going out on location. This was my first time using oil paints and learning how to mix colors and create an underpainting without any added solutions/mediums.

Painting a landscape fast while mixing colors accurately was my main goal. Reducing complicated shapes into giant objects proved to be a challenge for me because I was used to adding detail to my projects.
