Pastel Field

March 23, 2022 – A 24″ x 18″ pastel drawing of a field. The objective was to create a colorful piece without the use of black. Maintaining the vibrance of a color while mixing two or more together.

I had used soft pastels which limited my ability to add detail. My color range was small in the sense of having minimal variations of a color. This made me use the same color among different subjects (ex. the orange in the sky is the same as the dry grass in the field) which can create cohesion. I had to think of this drawing in steps. I started from top to bottom and left to right in order to not smudge all the progress that I had already made.
