Who is the artist underneath the drawing?

August 18, 2022 – A 12″ x 18″ graphite drawing of multiple elements that describe who I am. Collaged hobbies, interests, and some of my favorite things into one piece. I wanted the audience to look at this drawing a get a sense of who I was despite not knowing me. The elements in this drawing are:

• Pencils and paintbrushes (shows my love for art)
• A bumblebee (the signature insect I use to stamp on the back of my paintings)
• Elvis’s name (this artist connects me to some of my family members, and has tended to be one of the artists I play the most)
• A Beetles record (my liking of older music).

The highlights in the jars create a 3 dimensional allusion while the contrast between black and white creates a visual impact. Details such as the bumblebee’s hair and the individual dots on the ELVIS sign make the drawing come to life.
